The Patrimonial Heritage Centre located in the Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square) or Plaza Vieja (Old Square) aims to give its visitors some knowledge and appraisal of the city’s history. It was created with the idea of showing each historic period of Almeria, highlighting its patrimonial legacy. The museum is structured with an informative ground floor and three floors centred on Almeria during its Muslim, Christian and contemporary periods, respectively.

In each of its parts an interactive tour is prepared in which the visitor is accompanied by the characters, monuments and principal events of each historic period. The key events are explained in order to understand how they affected the evolution of the city and how they influence the current culture. At the same time, in each period a “Time Line” has been designed which allows the comparison of the principal historic passages of Almeria, Spain and the world.

This museum allows without any doubt to get an appraisal of the patrimonial evolution of Almeria. With its models, photos and graphic documents, it becomes the only place where to get a global view of what the city has to offer.

On its roof level, the centre has an impressive terrace where one can enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the city, with its monuments such as the Alcazaba, San Cristobal hill, Constitution Square or the Convent of the Poor Clares (Convento de las Claras), as well as a large part of the historic city centre.
