Mendez Nuñez

Mendez Nuñez, born in Almeria, was an important Spanish Navy officer that participated in the Guerra del Pacífico  (Chincha Islands War) and in the siege of the Canton de Cartagena (federal-liberal uprising during the I Spanish Republic in 1873).  Mendez Nuñez was honoured in Almeria with a street in his name, the old Estacion street that ends in the Railway Station. In 1900, the street was still known as the Estacion street.
