Casa de los Puche – Hermandad del Prendimiento
La Casa de los Puche (House of the Puche family), the current headquarters of the Cofradía del Prendimiento (Brotherhood of the Arrest), is located in Plaza Bendicho. This two-story manor house with a flat roof is organized around a central courtyard with a portico and columns. It serves as an excellent example of Almería’s domestic architecture from the 16th to the 18th centuries; it is believed to have been built in the late 17th or very early 18th century, around 1700.
It borders to the north with a building that depends on the Excma. Diputación de Almería, to the west it adjoins the Cathedral, to the south it faces the Plaza Jesús Cautivo de Medinaceli where its side facade opens, and to the east it presents its main front presiding over the aforementioned Plaza Bendicho.
The courtyard is on the ground floor surrounded by porticos that rest on diminished arches made of solid ceramic brick, supported by the walls or by isolated stone columns.
