Flamenco tour
The Almería Flamenco Route begins at the Heritage Interpretation Centre, where the three key stages of the city (Muslim, Christian and contemporary) are explained using educational resources such as a panoramic video and a viewpoint with views of the Alcazaba and the Cerro de San Cristóbal. Here the origins of local flamenco are introduced, highlighting the Almerian palos (traditional styles), the emergence of the peñas and their link with the Cante de las Minas, a symbol of the mining and flamenco tradition of the region.
The tour continues at the Antonio de Torres Guitar Museum, dedicated to the luthier from Almería who revolutionised the modern guitar. Through exhibitions, you will discover the evolution of this instrument, the role of the castanets and the influence of the gypsy people on flamenco, whose ‘toque’ transmits deep emotions. The experience culminates in an authentic flamenco peña located in a cave, where the art is experienced in its most visceral form, connecting past and present of a tradition that beats in the heart of Almería.
